Libertas per Cultum?
I came across this phrase in a magazine. What appealed to me is the lovely word Freedom that I recognized in Libertas. Like many fellow humans in the free world I am in constant search of ways to beat ‘the tyranny of the habit of fear’, as Russell puts it.
Then By Culture puzzled me. Rituals, behaviour, art. Sure, freedom is expressed by many artists in sound, movement, design or imagery, but it is their expression, not mine - only for me to enjoy temporarily. And this enjoyment, however deep and profound, will painfully leave me. Or will it not?
Upon closer read, I understand Cultum should be interpreted more broadly or translated more freely, including education. Freedom by Education. Freedom in other words, through any experience that has a formative effect on the way one thinks, feels or acts.
My blogs on this website are about free and fun experiences with the soul (!) purpose to dare myself to tune into them and take all the time to resonate with image, breath, conversation, design, sound, silence, texture, food, text, movement. In short, any experience of sheer being.
