The desk and field research focused on the companies' compliance against the ‘Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights’ (VPs).These Principles guide companies in maintaining the safety and security of their operations within an operating framework that also ensures respect for human rights.
The VPs risks assessment covered an analysis of key stakeholders (public, private and civic) and assessments of (1) the potential for violence in the country/ region, (2) the human rights records of the military and the police, and (3) the rule of law in the country/ region. The VPs risks assessment pinpointed for the clients the key social risks in that specific country and operating area.
On the basis of the outcome, advice was given on risks mitigation and possibilities for remediation.
